Organizing Youth!
(OY!)
is a volunteer-based organization formed to provide radical
political education and training to South Asian youth, and to
facilitate their self-empowerment to organize for political,
social, economic, and environmental justice. OY!
is dedicated to building a vibrant community of South Asian activists
who are committed to taking the struggle for global equality
and social change back to their communities and to the
building of a mass movement.
Join us for OY! 2005 (Aug 9-14) in San Francisco!
Are
you young and desi? Are you excited by activism and radical
politics? Are you frustrated by U.S. occupation and war against
marginalized people both home and abroad?
Then
come for six energizing days of workshops, panels, discussions,
community and solidarity building with progressive, radical youth and
activists of the South Asian diaspora! And fun-filled evenings!
At OY! 2005 we hope to:
- Breakdown barriers of race, caste, religion,
gender, sexuality and class
- Trace
the evolution of community organizing in South Asia
and elsewhere
- Unravel the common threads of
oppression and struggle
- Nurture
solidarity and ways to rebuild our fractured communities
- Gain and strengthen our organizing
skills
- Develop vision and strategies
for systemic change.
- And simply speak out against injustice!!

Area for South Asian youth. More details can be found at the OY! Summer 2004 webpage.
The OY! Summer
Program is supported in part by Vanguard Public Foundation and the RESIST Foundation, and was
inspired by the Youth
Solidarity Summer program in NYC.
