The OY! Summer Program
2005 is designed to be a six-day program of progressive political
education and
training for South Asian youth between the ages of 17 and 23, and is scheduled
for the second week of August - Tuesday the 9th thru
Sunday the 14th.
The
Program is structured as a series of workshops, panels and training
sessions that will examine and deconstruct the structures that promote
systemic oppression and social injustice and explore how systemic
oppression is practiced on the basis of gender, class, caste, race,
ethnicity,
nationality, sexuality and religion.
OY!
Summer is ultimately focussed on exploring the most effective way of
resisting oppressive systems by analysing and understanding the various
domestic and international systems that create and foster oppressive
inequalities.

HOUSING:
We do not guarantee any
pre-arranged accommodations for out of town participants. However we
plan to solicit volunteer-hosts who can put up one or two students
each. We encourage you to contact us at oy<AT>youthsolidarity<DOT>org.
Last
year we ended up getting sufficient hosts to satisfy everyone. The
key is to let us know early. But that is no guarantee; so please do
your best to find a friend, relative, whomever you can in the Bay Area
as well.
OY!
hosted their first annual Summer Program in the San Francisco Bay
Area for South Asian youth in August of 2004. For details, including
the various program elements and schedule, visit the OY!
