Subcommandante Marcos announced 8 years ago that "the Fourth World War has begun"—the war between the global corporations that are redefining nation states, and the world’s poor, working and indomitable masses...

Join us for a discussion that examines how far the onslaught of corporations has progressed, how corporations have weakened the sovereignty of nations, and how people are fighting back.

Panelists:
  • Gopal Dayaneni, is the former Oil Campaign Coordinator for Project Underground, a human rights and environmental rights organization which supports communities resisting oil and mining exploitation. Since October 2002, he has been organizing and training in non-violent civil disobedience in opposition to the War on Terrorism at home and abroad. Currently, Gopal is ith the Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition, and is an active trainer with The Ruckus Society

  • Antonia Juhasz is an activist, author and policy analyst. She was formerly a Project Director at the International Forum on Globalization  and is a Foreign Policy In Focus scholar. She is a Project Censored award recipient and co-author of "Alternatives to Economic Globalization: A Better World is Possible" (2nd Ed.) She is currently finishing up her first (solo) book, "The Bush Agenda: Invading the World, One Economy at a Time."

  • Pratap Chatterjee is Program Director / Managing Editor of CorpWatch.org and is the author of "Iraq Inc.: A Profitable Occupation". He is a member of the board of the Asian Pacific Environmental Network and served on the Environmental Commission for the City of Berkeley from 1998 to 2003. He has won multiple awards for his investigative journalism on topics ranging from the California Gold Rush to the impact of the United States invasion of Afghanistan, including four Project Censored awards.

  • Sasha Wright is a social justice activist based in Oakland, California. She has been involved in fighting water privatization with the Coalition in Defense of Water and Life in Cochamba, Bolivia and with the Ghana National Coalition Against Privatization of Water in Ghana. Currently she is involved in starting new local campaigns against the war in Iraq and is a member of the editorial collective for Left Turn Magazine.
This panel is being presented as part of OY! Summer 2005 . It is a free event and open to all. The  Organizing Youth (OY!) Collective aims  to facilitate the self-empowerment of youth from the South Asian diaspora  to organize for political, social, economic and environmental justice.
